Welcome To My Brutiful. Life
Founder of My Brutiful. Life | Licensed Hairapist | Advocate for Healing
Hi, I’m Rachel Lohr a licensed hairstylist of over 30 years, a lifelong encourager, and the founder of My Brutiful. Life. I’ve walked through both the brutal and the beautiful, and that journey has shaped everything I do today. Behind the salon chair, I’ve listened to thousands of stories, held space for heartbreak, and witnessed transformation not just in hair, but in hearts. That’s where the term Hairapist was born. I realized the conversations happening in the chair were often just as healing as any formal counseling session.
Out of my own experience surviving and healing from emotional and spiritual abuse, I created My Brutiful. Life a nonprofit space where women (and men) can find safety, truth, and restoration. Whether it’s through counseling, community, or conversations in the salon, my mission is to help people discover their true identity, break free from shame, and walk in the fullness of who they were created to be.
I believe healing happens in real, raw, honest spaces. Sometimes that’s in a counselor’s office. Sometimes it’s in a podcast. And sometimes... it’s right in the salon chair.
Welcome to My Brutiful. Life, Xoxo!
Brutiful Becoming
-
It all started with a longing—for something I didn’t see yet. I dreamed of a space that felt safe and sacred, where people didn’t have to perform or pretend to belong. A place for the ones who were quietly unraveling behind closed doors—the ones who loved God but were silently drowning in spiritual and emotional abuse. I longed to create what I so desperately needed but couldn’t find.
There were vivid moments I would hear a still small whispering, “There has to be more to life than this.” I was surviving a life that looked good from the outside but was slowly crushing my soul from the inside. And though I didn’t realize it at the time, that whisper was the beginning of a holy unraveling—one that would eventually lead to healing, freedom, and purpose.
It was in the most unexpected place—my salon chair—that it all started to make sense. Women began opening up about their own pain, confusion, and betrayal. And I realized I wasn’t just doing hair—I was holding space. I was listening, comforting, witnessing the same wounds I had walked through. That’s when I knew: my story wasn’t just about survival. It was about helping others heal.
This dream My Brutiful Life was born from that ache, that whisper, my chair. It’s a space for the brutally honest and the beautifully broken. A place where healing happens in real conversations, sacred silence, and the redemptive work of a God who never wastes our pain.

It all begins with an idea. Not a business. Not a brand. But you. The idea that maybe—just maybe—you could become whole again. That after all the trauma, silence, gaslighting, and spiritual confusion, you could rebuild the person you were always meant to be.
My Brutiful Life isn’t just about launching podcasts or nonprofits. It’s about rebuilding identity. It’s about reclaiming your voice, your truth, and your beauty after years of being told you were too much, too broken, or not enough.
You’re not just surviving anymore. You’re building. A new way of thinking. A new way of loving yourself. A new foundation rooted in truth—not shame. You're rebuilding trust with your own soul. And the way you live your story—boldly, vulnerably, authentically—becomes the blueprint for others to do the same.
This is where the rebuilding begins. One brave step at a time.

Growth doesn’t always look like progress—it often looks like pruning. The cutting away of old patterns, toxic beliefs, false identities, and survival strategies that once kept you safe but now keep you stuck.
But healing is growth.
Every boundary you set.
Every lie you unlearn.
Every time you choose rest over running, truth over performance, and love over fear—
that’s growth. At My Brutiful Life, we don’t believe healing is linear. It’s layered, sacred, and deeply personal. But you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you're listening to a podcast episode that speaks directly to your soul, having a breakthrough in a salon chair, or finally finding language for what happened to you—we’re here for it all.
This is the part where roots go deep. Where you outgrow what hurt you. And where the real you starts to bloom.

Let’s Work Together
An intake form for counseling clients is a confidential questionnaire completed before your first session. It helps provide a fuller picture of your story, current challenges, and goals for healing. This form covers basic information—like your background, relationship history, emotional or mental health concerns, and what you're hoping to work through.
The purpose? To help me (Rachel) walk alongside you with clarity, compassion, and care so our time together is meaningful, safe, and centered on you.
